Welcome to my blog! + Gyaru Card Challenge

Evening all!

I don't feel like going to bed yet so I figured this would be a perfect time to do an intro post.

So I ramble a lot and I got tired of doing in in my stories. Therefore my blog has been born. ~Woo!~ *confetti*

Really I just wanted a ramble spot to talk about things I'm doing/working on in a bit more detail without it being on a personal Facebook or separated by cosplay or jfashion or any like that.

Mind that age verification warning. I'm a whole 28 year old so I'll be talking about
some adult tings every once in a while. ☆⌒(ゝ。∂)

To add a bit more meat to this first post I'm going to not-so-subtly list a post from Reila Less over at The Name I Love; a gyaru card challenge just to yell a bit more about what I'm like and stuff.

  Nickname/Gyaru Name:

So Kai is the name I do generally prefer to go buy and Kaiatan was my way of trying to come up with a cute gyaru style nickname like Ka-tan or Mayuchibi. But because I'm lazy I end up just going by Kai more often rip

 Birthday & Zodiac Sign:

June 28th! Cancer/Libra/Cancer which somehow explains a lot but also not enough.

Personal Style & Favorite Style:

Honestly my style is kinda all over the place so at this point I just say I wear gyaru kei. Maybe individual outfits fall into a different aesthetic and/or style but overall I can't make decisions like that so I want them all (⌒_⌒;)

I definitely say a lot of my outfits could fall in between agejo and kuro at this point though.

Favorite Era/Year

It's a tie between late 90s and 2005-2010.

I like the late 90s because I feel like it was easier to put together outfits and build a wardrobe that can actually be worn everyday. but I like 2005-2010 because I think that's when we got so much creativity with all the different styles with people 'pen pineapple pen'-ing gyaru with other interests they had such as rokku/goshikku.

I don't really follow models anymore and try to find individual gals online

      Top Five Brands

Oh this one is actually kind of easy (phew)!

      • Gold's Infinity
      • d.i.a
      • Ma*Rs
      • Diamond Lash
      • Claires

Yeah I took advantage of it not specifying clothing brands only |ω・)ノ

      Top Five Inspo Coords

A lot of my coord inspiration honestly comes from para para refilms and DVDs. My absolute top favorite are these coords from the egg Get Wild, Be Sexy DVD

This is the entire reason I love golds infinity as much as I do.

Another inspiration is this outfit from Aishiteru? and Deluxe on the ParaParaParadise game footage.

Beyond that I take a lot of general basic outfit ideas from DVD's I like such as Dynamite Rave and We Love Techpara.

From Dynamite Rave 4

From Gazen Vs We Love Techpara

Also whenever gyaru show up in foreign DVDs it's always amazing and makes me think about trying something new with clothes I don't usually see.

Check out Lilly on the Right from Diamond 7 and not the absolutely blurry other person I'm so sorry.

      Top Five Of Your Coords

Wew okay here we go in no particular order:

This coord from the first MD megameet because I actually felt gyaru and was recognized as gyaru at this time.

This coord where I gave hime I try for my birthday

This coord where I just went to a club with friends. This is where I think I started realized I don't need to have every accessory in the world on top of each other to look and feel gyaru.

This coord from a Harajuku Walk where I decided to go for a look more inspired by manba. I thiiiiink this counts as Tsuyome??? Looking back on it now I wanted to do more with long skirts with slits in them. That's an idea for next year.

And finally this coord I wore for filming Stay Home and Dance 4.

Top Five Must Have Fashion Items

    • Shorts
    • Fitted tops
    • Thigh High Boots
    • Earrings
    • A Thong

This is literally all I really think you need to start a gyaru wardrobe, and even then the thong is just to avoid panty lines so if your shorts are think enough to hide them not even necessary.

      Top Five Gyaru Goals

Honestly I don't have any besides to have fun! That's the whole point of me being gyaru.

      Top Five Gyaru Achievements

    • Somehow making a circle with my friends
    • Overcoming my anxiety and joining para para projects
    • Making my own skirt for the Jelly July coord contest and having one of the hosts say that they wouldn't have guessed it was handmade if I didn't point it out
    • Making Gyaru Para Unite!!!
    • Actually having a physical para para collection

   Last Five Gyaru Gets

    • Hyper Techno Mission 3
    • Hyper Techno Mission 5
    • Two Baby Shoop Tops
    • A d.i.a long sleeve top that actually fits me perfectly (ಥ﹏ಥ)

Five Items from your Gyaru Wishlist

    • An Alba Rosa Coat in Black and Pink
    • d.i.a Moon belt in Black
    • Hyper Techno Paradise CD
    • Baby Shoop Belt or Necklace
    • Hakai 3 RIP (Especially with the rip of that version of Cheetahmen cause hoLY FUCK)

  Suggestions for a Beginner Gyaru

  • This shit is fucking expensive. It is nearly impossible to be gyaru without being able to buy makeup and accessories regularly. While the bar isn't as high as say Lolita fashion it's still there.
  • Focus more on makeup than on outfits. I say this all the time at panels and I'll keep on saying it: you can literally be butt naked and gyaru. Knowing how to put a face together that's simple but gyaru will do you so many favors when you want to put makeup on without it feelings like a daunting task due to how heavy gyaru makeup is.

  • Eye makeup is to gyaru like petticoats are to Lolita. Without the distinctive and heavy eye makeup there is nothing that will really mark you as gyaru. You can definitely get away with not having certain parts of the makeup as long as you know how to make up for them but if you don't know how to do so you'll just end up kneecapping yourself.

  • Think of substyles more of the way substyles exist in goth instead of Lolita and other Japanese fashion styles. It's going to be way easier to start with gyaru kei in jeans and a tshirt and slowly add in agejo elements than to straight up drop $200 on Ma*RS to become a hardcore agejo gyaru. Not only will you spend a lot of money on clothes that may or may not fit you'll find it hard to not want to keep those clothes for special occasions just because of how much of an ordeal it was to get them and slow down the process of converting your entire wardrobe to gyaru.

  • Understand if you do something that's not gyaru then that's okay. It's alright if not everything you try when starting out and/or experimenting is gyaru. That doesn't mean it's not cute or cool, it's just not gyaru which means other gyaru won't recognize it as such. Which again! Fine! If you find that there's key aspects to looking gyaru that you're just not willing to do there's nothing wrong with having a gyaru inspired style. A major force of what we know as Larme/Girly in the west was himekaji wearing their brand and clothes without any makeup, eventually it morphed into what we know as Larme today.

I hope this first post was interesting at the very least! I'm hoping to start yelling about makeup really soon. See you all on the flip side!
